Ragnarök literally means fate of the gods in Old Norse. The final battle destroys nearly every god, including Odin himself, yet the story doesn't end in despair. From the ruins, a new earth and a new sun rise, and the world is reborn.

那天傍晚，寒风呼啸。小喜缩在阿鸦身边，望着灰沉沉的天空问："阿鸦，世界会有终结的那一天吗？"

That evening, a cold wind howled. Magpie huddled close to A-Ya, gazing at the grey sky and asked: "A-Ya, will the world ever come to an end?"

阿鸦沉默了一会儿，说："在遥远的北方，有一个古老的民族，他们相信——世界是会终结的，连神也会死。"小喜倒吸一口冷气。

A-Ya was silent for a moment. "Far to the north," he said, "there was an ancient people who believed — the world will end, and even the gods will die." Magpie gasped.

"小喜，"阿鸦压低声音，"奥丁的两只乌鸦，每天飞遍九个世界……胡金和穆宁，就是我们乌鸦族最古老的祖先。"小喜瞪大了眼睛，连呼吸都忘了。

"Magpie," A-Ya lowered his voice, "Odin's two ravens fly across all nine worlds every day... Huginn and Muninn are the oldest ancestors of us crows." Magpie's eyes went wide, and she forgot to breathe.

"那……它们知道世界要终结的事吗？"小喜的声音有点发抖。

"So... do they know the world is going to end?" Magpie's voice trembled slightly.

阿鸦点点头："它们什么都知道。因为终结之战那天，连奥丁自己，也逃不过命运。"

A-Ya nodded: "They know everything. Because on the day of the final battle, even Odin himself cannot escape his fate."

阿鸦！奥丁的两只乌鸦叫什么名字？它们真的很厉害吗？

A-Ya! What are the names of Odin's two ravens? Are they really that powerful?

📌 奥丁 (Àodīng) = Odin · 乌鸦 (wūyā) = raven / crow

胡金代表"思想"，穆宁代表"记忆"。每天清晨飞出，傍晚归来，把世间所有的消息带给奥丁。没有它们，奥丁就是瞎子。

Huginn means 'thought' and Muninn means 'memory'. They fly out every morning and return at dusk, bringing Odin all the news of the world. Without them, Odin would be blind.

言归正传。诸神黄昏的导火索是洛基——他害死了光明之神巴德尔，被众神囚禁。终于有一天，芬里尔狼挣断锁链，巨人军队从海上杀来，末日战争爆发。

Back to the story. The trigger of Ragnarök was Loki — he caused the death of Baldr, the god of light, and was imprisoned. Then one day, the wolf Fenrir broke free, the giant army came by sea, and the final war began.

托尔杀死了大海巨蛇耶梦加得，却被蛇毒击倒，走了九步后倒下。奥丁被芬里尔吞噬。但——战后世界重生，新的神祇崛起，人类得以延续。

Thor slew the sea serpent Jörmungandr, but was struck by its venom and fell after nine steps. Odin was swallowed by Fenrir. But — after the battle, the world was reborn, new gods rose, and humanity survived.

小喜盯着篝火，半天没说话。"阿鸦，"她小声问，"如果末日真的来了，你怕吗？"阿鸦看了看天空，"怕。但北欧人说——知道结局，还是选择战斗，这才是英雄。"
"A-Ya," Magpie whispered, staring at the fire, "if the end really came, would you be afraid?" A-Ya looked up. "Yes. But the Norse said — knowing the end, and still choosing to fight. That's what makes a hero."
