The Leifeng Pagoda that traps the White Snake in the legend is a real ancient tower that once stood by West Lake in Hangzhou. Built in 975 CE, it stood for nearly a thousand years before actually collapsing in 1924, a strange overlap between myth and reality.

那天下着毛毛雨，小喜撑着一片大叶子当伞。她望着西湖的涟漪，问："阿鸦，你相信人和妖怪可以相爱吗？"

It was drizzling that day. Magpie held a large leaf over her head like an umbrella. She gazed at the ripples on West Lake and asked: "A-Ya, do you believe a human and a spirit can truly fall in love?"

阿鸦看了看烟雨中的西湖，轻声说："就在这里，很久很久以前，一条修炼千年的白蛇，化为人形，遇见了一个叫许仙的人……"小喜的雨伞叶子差点掉了。

A-Ya looked at West Lake in the drizzle and said softly: "Right here, long, long ago, a white snake who had cultivated for a thousand years took human form and met a man named Xu Xian…" Magpie almost dropped her leaf umbrella.

"小喜，"阿鸦压低声音，"白娘子在断桥等许仙的那天，西湖边的柳树上，其实有一只乌鸦……"小喜瞪大眼睛，"是你吗？！"

"Magpie," A-Ya lowered his voice, "the day the White Lady waited for Xu Xian on the Broken Bridge, there was actually a crow in the willow tree by West Lake..." Magpie's eyes went wide. "Was that you?!"

阿鸦点点头："那把伞，后来发生的事，柳树上看得清清楚楚。"

A-Ya nodded. "That umbrella — everything that happened afterward, the willow tree saw it all, clear as day."

小喜捂住嘴："伞？许仙不是应该带着伞回来还她吗？后来呢？"

Magpie covered her mouth. "The umbrella? Wasn't Xu Xian supposed to come back and return it to her? What happened next?"

白娘子下凡是为了报恩——前世许仙曾是小牧童，救过一条白蛇。一千年后，白娘子化为人形，寻找恩人，在西湖断桥偶然相遇，缘分天注定。

Nezha had ripped out Ao Bing's dragon tendon and injured the yaksha who came as backup. The Dragon King, humiliated, went to the Heavenly Court to file a complaint and threatened to flood Chentang Pass. Nezha's father Li Jing was caught in the middle.

许仙动摇了，躲进了金山寺。白娘子怀着身孕，赶到金山寺求夫，法海拒不放人。白娘子法力大发，引来西湖之水，水漫金山——这就是"水漫金山"的由来。

Nezha didn't apologize. He said: this flesh was given by my parents — I return it to them. My actions are mine to answer for. He then cut his own flesh and returned his bones to his father, dying to take responsibility — and in doing so, claimed his freedom.

没有。法海用金钵将白娘子镇压在雷峰塔下，许仙出家为僧，在塔前守了一生。后来他们的儿子高中状元，祭塔感天，雷峰塔轰然倒塌，白娘子才得以重见天日。

Thor slew the sea serpent Jörmungandr, but was struck by its venom and fell after nine steps. Odin was swallowed by Fenrir. But — after the battle, the world was reborn, new gods rose, and humanity survived.

小喜沉默了很久，抬头看着西湖上的烟雨。"阿鸦，"她轻声说，"白娘子等了那么久，值得吗？"阿鸦看着湖面，"她自己觉得值得，那就值得。"
"A-Ya," Magpie whispered, gazing at the misty West Lake, "was it worth it — all that waiting?" A-Ya looked out at the water. "If she thought it was worth it, then it was."
