伊什塔尔下降冥界的故事记载在古代苏美尔和阿卡德的泥板上，伊什塔尔是掌管爱情与丰饶的女神。传说她决定前往冥界，去看望统治冥界的姐姐埃列什基伽勒。冥界一共有七重大门，每过一道门，守门人就要求她交出一件衣饰。

The story of Ishtar's Descent to the Underworld is recorded on ancient Sumerian and Akkadian clay tablets. Ishtar was the goddess of love and fertility. Legend says she decided to travel to the underworld to visit her sister Ereshkigal, who ruled there. The underworld had seven great gates, and at each one, the gatekeeper demanded she give up one piece of her clothing or jewelry.

伊什塔尔一心想要见到姐姐，一道一道门走过去，也一件一件地交出了自己的王冠、耳环、项链……等她终于走到最后一道门前，她身上已经什么都不剩了。姐姐埃列什基伽勒见她来势汹汹，非常生气，让她永远留在了冥界。

Determined to see her sister, Ishtar passed through gate after gate, giving up her crown, earrings, and necklace, one by one... By the time she reached the final gate, she had nothing left at all. Her sister Ereshkigal, seeing her arrive so boldly, grew furious and kept her trapped in the underworld forever.

小喜看着画里一位美丽的女神站在冥界大门前，好奇地问："阿鸦，她要去这么可怕的地方做什么呀？"

Magpie looked at the painting of a beautiful goddess standing before the gates of the underworld, and asked curiously, "A-Ya, what is she doing in such a frightening place?"

阿鸦说："她叫伊什塔尔，是爱与丰饶的女神。她决定去冥界，见一见统治那里的姐姐。"

A-Ya said, "Her name is Ishtar, the goddess of love and fertility. She decided to go to the underworld to see her sister who ruled there."

小喜惊讶："冥界那么可怕，她真的敢一个人去吗？"

Magpie was amazed, "The underworld is so frightening, does she really dare to go alone?"

阿鸦说："这正是这个故事最让人意外的地方。"

A-Ya said, "That's exactly the most surprising part of this story."

小喜追问："怎么意外？"

Magpie pressed on. "Surprising how?"

阿鸦说："冥界一共有七重大门，每过一道门，守门人都会向她要一件东西。"

A-Ya said, "The underworld has seven great gates, and at each one, the gatekeeper asks her for something."

小喜好奇："要走七道门，那她岂不是要交出七样东西？"

Magpie was curious, "If there are seven gates, wouldn't she have to give up seven things?"

阿鸦说："没错，而且等她走到最后一道门前的时候，发生了一件谁都没想到的事……具体发生了什么，还得从头讲起。"

A-Ya said, "Exactly, and by the time she reached the final gate, something no one expected happened... but to find out exactly what happened, we'll have to start from the beginning."

伊什塔尔终于站到了姐姐埃列什基伽勒面前，此时她身上的王冠、耳环、项链、长袍都已经交了出去，什么都不剩了。姐姐见她这样闯进冥界，非常生气，立刻施法把她变成了一具没有生气的躯壳，永远留在了冥界。
Ishtar finally stood before her sister Ereshkigal, having given up her crown, earrings, necklace, and robe along the way — she had nothing left. Furious that Ishtar had come storming into the underworld, her sister cast a spell that turned her into a lifeless shell, trapped in the underworld forever.

伊什塔尔是掌管爱情与丰饶的女神，她一旦消失，人间的花朵不再开放，牛羊不再繁衍，连人们也不再相爱成婚。天神们急坏了，赶紧商量该怎么办。
Ishtar was the goddess of love and fertility, and with her gone, flowers on earth stopped blooming, livestock stopped breeding, and even people stopped falling in love and marrying. The gods grew alarmed and quickly discussed what to do.

天神们派使者带着能起死回生的圣水，闯进冥界救回了伊什塔尔。但冥后要求必须有人替她留下，最后，她深爱的丈夫塔穆兹自愿留在冥界半年，等到时节交替，才能回到人间与她团聚。
The gods sent a messenger carrying the water of life into the underworld and rescued Ishtar. But Ereshkigal demanded someone stay behind in her place — in the end, Ishtar's beloved husband Tammuz volunteered to remain in the underworld for half of each year, only returning to earth to reunite with her when the seasons turned.

Magpie sighed, "So the two of them can only be together for half of each year." A-Ya nodded. "The ancient Sumerians used this very story to explain why the earth has changing seasons — the half year Tammuz spent in the underworld corresponded to the barren winter, and when he returned to earth, spring would arrive right along with him."

伊什塔尔下降冥界的泥板残片最早出土于公元前2000年左右的古巴比伦，比人类已知最古老的史诗《吉尔伽美什》还要早上数百年。考古学家在两河流域的多处遗址都发现过这个故事的不同版本，说明它曾在古代中东地区广泛流传，是人类历史上最早的关于"爱与失去"的完整叙事之一。🌑📜

Clay tablet fragments of Ishtar's Descent to the Underworld date back to around 2000 BCE in ancient Babylon, predating even the Epic of Gilgamesh, humanity's oldest known epic, by several centuries. Archaeologists have found different versions of this story at multiple sites across Mesopotamia, showing it was widely told throughout the ancient Middle East, making it one of the earliest complete narratives about love and loss in human history.
