上古时期，天帝帝俊与妻子羲和一共生了十个儿子，他们就是天上的十个太阳，住在东海边一棵巨大的扶桑树上，按照规矩，每天只能有一个太阳升起，照耀大地。

In ancient times, the Emperor of Heaven Di Jun and his wife Xihe had ten sons, who were the ten suns in the sky. They lived in a giant tree called Fusang by the eastern sea, and by the rules, only one sun was allowed to rise and shine on the earth each day.

可是有一天，十个太阳觉得轮流升起太无聊了，竟然一起跑到了天上！大地一下子被十个太阳同时炙烤，河流枯竭，庄稼枯死，百姓苦不堪言。尧帝焦急万分，跪地向天帝祈求救助。

But one day, the ten suns grew bored of taking turns and all rushed into the sky together! The earth was suddenly scorched by ten suns at once — rivers dried up, crops withered, and the people suffered greatly. Emperor Yao, deeply worried, knelt and prayed to the Emperor of Heaven for help.

小喜看着画里十个太阳同时挂在天空，把大地烤得干裂，好奇地问："阿鸦，天上怎么会有十个太阳呀？这不是很奇怪吗？"

Magpie looked at the painting of ten suns hanging in the sky at once, scorching the cracked earth below, and asked curiously, "A-Ya, why are there ten suns in the sky? Isn't that strange?"

阿鸦说："这十个太阳本来应该轮流升起，可是有一天它们贪玩，竟然一起跑到了天上，把大地都快烤焦了。"

A-Ya said, "These ten suns were supposed to take turns rising, but one day they got restless and all rushed into the sky together, nearly scorching the earth to a crisp."

小喜惊讶："那百姓们该怎么办呀？"

Magpie was amazed, "What are the people supposed to do?"

阿鸦说："这正是这个故事最让人意外的地方。"

A-Ya said, "That's exactly the most surprising part of this story."

小喜追问："怎么意外？"

Magpie pressed on. "Surprising how?"

阿鸦说："天帝派了一位神射手下凡，他叫后羿，箭法百发百中。"

A-Ya said, "The Emperor of Heaven sent down a divine archer named Hou Yi, whose arrows never missed their mark."

小喜好奇："后羿是要去教训那十个太阳吗？"

Magpie was curious, "Is Hou Yi going to teach those ten suns a lesson?"

阿鸦说："本来天帝只是想让他吓唬吓唬那几个不听话的儿子，可后羿看到百姓受的苦，做了一个连天帝都没想到的决定……具体发生了什么，还得从头讲起。"

A-Ya said, "The Emperor of Heaven only meant for him to scare his disobedient sons a little, but when Hou Yi saw the people's suffering, he made a decision even the Emperor never expected... but to find out exactly what happened, we'll have to start from the beginning."

后羿站在山巅，望着天上十个炙烤大地的太阳，又看看脚下干裂的土地和饿的哭泣的孩子，他做出了一个决定——张弓搭箭，一口气射下了九个太阳，只留下一个继续照耀人间。

Hou Yi stood atop a mountain, looking up at the ten suns scorching the earth, then down at the cracked ground and hungry, crying children. He made a decision — he drew his bow and, one after another, shot down nine suns, leaving only one to keep shining on the world.

九个太阳消失后，天气一下子凉爽了下来。枯竭的河流重新流淌，干裂的土地又长出了绿油油的庄稼，百姓们终于不用再忍受炙烤之苦了。

Once the nine suns vanished, the weather turned cool again. The dried-up rivers began flowing once more, green crops sprouted from the cracked earth, and the people no longer had to endure the scorching heat.

天帝虽然心疼儿子，但也明白是他们贪玩闯下了大祸，给百姓带来了巨大的灾难。尧帝对后羿感激不尽，把他当作拯救苍生的大英雄，这个故事也一直流传到了今天。

Though the Emperor of Heaven grieved for his sons, he also understood that their recklessness had brought great disaster upon the people. Emperor Yao was deeply grateful to Hou Yi, honoring him as the hero who saved humanity, and this story has been told ever since.

后羿射日的故事最早见于《山海经》和《淮南子》等先秦古籍，距今已有两千多年历史。有趣的是，1976年考古学家在殷墟出土的商代甲骨文中，确实发现了"十日"的记载——古人用十个天干（甲乙丙丁等）来记录天数，很可能就是"十个太阳轮流值日"这一神话最早的现实来源。🌞📜

The legend of Hou Yi Shooting Down the Suns first appeared in ancient Chinese classics such as the Classic of Mountains and Seas and the Huainanzi, over two thousand years ago. Interestingly, in 1976 archaeologists discovered records of "ten suns" on oracle bone inscriptions from the Shang dynasty excavated at Yinxu — ancient people used ten Heavenly Stems to count the days, which may well be the real-world origin of the myth about ten suns taking turns.
