A-Ya said, "That's Alexander the Great, one of the most famous young kings in history. The knot in front of him had already stumped countless people."

Magpie was amazed, "What's so special about this knot?"

阿鸦说："传说谁能解开这个绳结，谁就能统治整个亚洲。可几百年来，谁都没能成功。"

A-Ya said, "He studied the knot carefully, and an idea came to him that no one else had ever thought of."

小喜好奇："什么主意呀？"

Magpie was curious, "What idea?"

阿鸦说："他的做法出乎所有人的意料，具体发生了什么，还得从头讲起。"

A-Ya said, "What he did surprised everyone. To find out exactly what happened, we'll have to start from the beginning."

在小亚细亚的弗里吉亚王国里，有一辆古老的战车，车轭上系着一个异常复杂的绳结，绳结的两端完全找不到。传说很久以前，一位普通农夫因为神谕的指引成为了国王，他把自己的战车献给神庙，用这个绳结系住车轭，从此这个绳结就成了王国最神圣的象征。传说谁能解开它，谁就能统治整个亚洲。

In the kingdom of Phrygia in Asia Minor, there was an ancient cart whose yoke was bound by an extraordinarily complex knot, its two ends completely impossible to find. Legend said that long ago, an ordinary farmer became king through the guidance of an oracle, and he dedicated his cart to the temple, tying the yoke with this very knot. From then on, the knot became the kingdom's most sacred symbol. Legend said whoever untied it would rule all of Asia.

从来没有！这个绳结缠绕得极其巧妙，完全找不到绳头，无数聪明人、王公贵族都试过，可谁都无功而返。渐渐地，人们都觉得这个绳结是解不开的，直到亚历山大大帝率军来到这里，听说了这个传说，决定亲自去看一看。

Never! The knot was woven with such extraordinary skill that no end could ever be found. Countless clever people, princes, and nobles had tried, but all left empty-handed. Gradually, people came to believe the knot was simply impossible to untie — until Alexander the Great arrived here with his army, heard the legend, and decided to see it for himself.

So what did Alexander do?

亚历山大站在绳结前，仔细端详了许久，用手摸索着尝试寻找绳头，可怎么也找不到。周围的将士和百姓都屏住了呼吸，等着看他会不会像从前那些人一样放弃。谁知，亚历山大忽然拔出腰间的佩剑，手起剑落，"唰"的一声，把整个绳结齐齐劈成了两半！在场的所有人都愣住了，随即爆发出震耳欲聋的欢呼——绳结确实被"解开"了，只不过用的是谁都没想到的办法。后来，亚历山大果然率军东征，建立起横跨欧亚非的庞大帝国，"戈尔迪之结"这个故事也流传千古，成为"打破常规、用创造性思维解决难题"的经典象征。

Alexander stood before the knot, studying it closely for a long while, feeling around with his hands to find an end, but he could find none. The soldiers and townspeople around him held their breath, waiting to see if he would give up like everyone before him. Then, suddenly, Alexander drew the sword at his waist, and with a single swift strike — whoosh — he cut the entire knot cleanly in two! Everyone present froze in shock, and then burst into thunderous cheers — the knot truly had been "untied," just by a method no one had ever imagined. Alexander went on to lead his army eastward, building a vast empire spanning Europe, Asia, and Africa, and the story of the "Gordian Knot" has been told for centuries since, becoming a classic symbol of "breaking convention and solving problems through creative thinking."
