In ancient Persia, there was a wise man named Zoroaster, and the truths he came to understand are still cherished and honored today by communities in Iran and by the Parsi community in India, with one of the most important symbols of all being a sacred flame that is never allowed to go out.

这一期，阿鸦要讲的不是神仙打架的故事，而是一段关于一个人在旷野中静静思考、最终点燃第一簇圣火的温和传说。

This time, A-Ya won't be telling a story about gods fighting, instead, it's a gentle legend about a man who quietly reflected in the wilderness, and ultimately lit the very first sacred flame.

A-Ya said, "That silhouette is Zoroaster, a wise man from ancient Persia. He once spent many years reflecting alone in the wilderness, and the truths he came to understand are still cherished by many people to this day."

小喜惊讶："思考了很多年？他都在想什么呀？"

Magpie was amazed, "Reflecting for many years? What was he thinking about?"

阿鸦说："他年轻的时候，看到身边有很多的争吵和不公平，心里一直有一个疑问，想弄明白人应该怎样好好生活。"

A-Ya said, "When he was young, he saw a great deal of conflict and unfairness around him, and there was a question in his heart he kept wanting to understand, how people should live well together."

小喜追问："那他后来想明白了吗？"

Magpie pressed on, "So did he figure it out in the end?"

阿鸦说："他悟出了三句简单又深刻的话，这三句话后来影响了很多人的一生。"

A-Ya said, "He came to understand three simple yet profound sayings, sayings that went on to shape the lives of many people afterward."

小喜好奇："是哪三句话呀？"

Magpie was curious, "What were the three sayings?"

阿鸦说："这三句话，还有他点燃第一簇圣火的那个时刻，具体是怎样的，得从头讲起。"

A-Ya said, "Those three sayings, and the moment he lit the very first sacred flame, exactly how it happened, we'll have to start from the beginning."

琐罗亚斯德是古波斯一位安静而喜欢思考的年轻人。他从小就喜欢观察身边的世界，也常常为看到的争吵和不公平感到困惑，心里始终有一个问题：人到底应该怎样生活，才能让自己和身边的人都过得更好。为了想清楚这个问题，他离开了村庄，独自一人来到辽阔的旷野中。

Zoroaster was a quiet, thoughtful young man in ancient Persia. From childhood, he loved observing the world around him, and he was often troubled by the conflict and unfairness he witnessed, always carrying one question in his heart, how exactly should people live, so that both themselves and those around them could have better lives. To think this question through clearly, he left his village and went alone into the vast wilderness.

是的，他在旷野中静静地生活了很多年，每天观察日出日落、四季更替，慢慢地想明白了一个道理：这个世界上有光明和温暖，也有黑暗和寒冷，而一个人真正能做主的，是自己心里、口中、手上做出的选择。于是他悟出了三句简单的话：善思、善言、善行，意思是要保持良善的思想，说良善的话语，做良善的事情。

Yes, he lived quietly in the wilderness for many years, watching the sunrise and sunset each day, and the changing of the seasons, and slowly came to understand one truth: in this world there is light and warmth, but also darkness and cold, and what a person can truly govern is the choices they make in their own heart, their own words, and their own actions. And so he arrived at three simple sayings, good thoughts, good words, good deeds, meaning that one should hold onto kind thoughts, speak kind words, and do kind deeds.

So why did he light a sacred flame?

悟出这个道理之后，琐罗亚斯德想找一样东西，来提醒人们时刻记住善思、善言、善行。他想到了火——火焰能带来光明和温暖，能照亮黑暗，却从不需要任何言语，只是安安静静地燃烧着。于是他在山顶点燃了第一簇火，把它当作光明与真理的象征。他把这份道理传给了身边的人，从此以后，人们建起了圣火庙，世世代代守护着这簇永不熄灭的火，直到今天，伊朗的一些地方和印度的帕西人社群，依然在虔诚地守护着这份传统。

After coming to understand this truth, Zoroaster wanted to find something that could remind people at all times to hold good thoughts, speak good words, and do good deeds. He thought of fire, flame brings light and warmth, and can light up the darkness, yet it needs no words at all, it simply burns quietly. So he lit the very first flame on a mountaintop, treating it as a symbol of light and truth. He passed this understanding on to those around him, and from then on, people built fire temples, guarding this never-extinguished flame generation after generation. To this day, some places in Iran, along with the Parsi community in India, still devotedly preserve this tradition.

The city of Yazd in Iran is still home to a famous "Atash Behram" fire temple, where a flame is said to have burned continuously for over fifteen hundred years without ever going out. The Parsi community in India are descendants who migrated from Persia hundreds of years ago, and to this day they still devotedly preserve this ancient tradition in their own fire temples.
