在《西游记》里，孙悟空跟随唐僧西天取经的路上，遇到了整个故事里最诡异的一场危机——一只名叫六耳猕猴的妖猴，竟然拥有跟孙悟空一模一样的外貌、法力和金箍棒，两人打得难解难分，连身边最亲近的人都分辨不出到底谁是真、谁是假。

In "Journey to the West," Sun Wukong faced one of the strangest crises of the entire pilgrimage while accompanying Tangseng, a demon monkey called the Six-Eared Macaque appeared, possessing an appearance, magical powers, and even a golden-banded staff identical to Sun Wukong's. The two fought to a stalemate, and not even those closest to them could tell which one was real and which was false.

两只猴子从人间打到天庭，又从天庭打到地府，连玉皇大帝、阎罗王、观音菩萨都用尽了各种法术和法宝，却始终无法分辨出真假。这场"真假之谜"，一度让整个天地都陷入了困惑。

The two monkeys fought their way from the mortal world up to the Heavenly Court, then down to the underworld. Even the Jade Emperor, the King of the Underworld, and Guanyin exhausted every spell and treasure they had, yet still could not tell the two apart. This "mystery of true and false" left the entire realm, both heaven and earth, thoroughly baffled for a time.

阿鸦说："这可不是影子——是一只叫六耳猕猴的妖怪，他不知用了什么办法，把自己变得跟孙悟空一模一样，连法力、金箍棒都分毫不差。这下麻烦大了，因为连唐僧和其他师兄弟，都分不清谁才是真正的孙悟空。"

Aya said, "That's not a shadow at all, it's a demon called the Six-Eared Macaque. Somehow, he had transformed himself to look exactly like Sun Wukong, matching even his magical powers and golden-banded staff down to the last detail. This caused a huge problem, because not even Tangseng or the other disciples could tell which one was the real Sun Wukong."

小喜追问："那这两只猴子后来怎么样了？"

Xiaoxi pressed, "So what happened to these two monkeys afterward?"

阿鸦说："他们从人间一路打起，谁也不肯罢休，谁也无法证明自己才是真的。"

Aya said, "They fought each other starting from the mortal world, neither willing to stop, and neither able to prove which one was real."

小喜好奇地问："那有没有人出来帮忙分辨呀？"

Xiaoxi asked curiously, "Did anyone step in to help tell them apart?"

阿鸦说："试过好多办法，唐僧试过，观音菩萨试过，连玉皇大帝和阎罗王都试过了。可是每一次，两只猴子的反应都一模一样，没有一个办法能奏效。"

Aya said, "Many methods were tried, Tangseng tried, Guanyin tried, even the Jade Emperor and the King of the Underworld tried. But every single time, the two monkeys reacted identically, and none of the methods worked."

小喜追问："那最后到底怎么解决的呀？"

Xiaoxi pressed, "So how was it finally resolved?"

阿鸦故意卖了个关子："最后惊动了一位法力最高的人物出面。是谁？他又是怎么看穿真相的？那就得往下听了。"

Aya deliberately teased, "In the end, it took someone with the highest power of all to step in. Who was it? And how did they see through the truth? You'll have to keep listening."

Tangseng tried reciting the tightening spell, by rights, only the real Sun Wukong wore the golden band, so only he should feel pain when the spell was chanted. But unexpectedly, both monkeys cried out in pain and rolled on the ground at the same time, so even this method failed.

Guanyin used a magic mirror said to reveal a demon's true form, but the mirror still showed two identical Sun Wukongs. The Jade Emperor and the King of the Underworld each tried their own methods, even searching through the entire Register of Life and Death, but could not find the Six-Eared Macaque's name or origin anywhere. Not a single being in heaven or earth could tell the two apart.

最后没有办法，只能一路打到西天，请如来佛祖亲自出面。如来佛祖法力无边，一眼就看穿了六耳猕猴的真身——原来他是混沌初开时天地间产生的一种奇特灵猴，最擅长的本事，就是能够模仿他人的样貌与声音。真相大白后，六耳猕猴的伪装再也无法维持，最终被制服。

In the end, with no other option, the two monkeys fought their way all the way to the Western Paradise to seek out the Buddha himself. With his boundless power, the Buddha saw through the Six-Eared Macaque's true identity at a single glance, it turned out he was a peculiar spirit monkey born from the earliest chaos of heaven and earth, whose greatest talent was mimicking the appearance and voice of others. Once the truth was revealed, the Six-Eared Macaque's disguise could no longer hold, and he was finally subdued.
